A perennial plant grown on plantations. A shrub, which usually grows from 2 to 2.5 metres tall, sometimes as tall as 3 metres. The dark blue, nearly black round fruit are characterised by their sweetish flavour and a delicate, natural coating. The fresh and dried fruit are a valuable dietary ingredient.
